The former Team Jumbo-Visma, which had a historic season with victories in all three grand tours, will continue as Team Visma | Lease a Bike from January 1, 2024. Visma and Lease a Bike have both signed a contract as title sponsors for an indefinite period.
Lease a Bike, a subsidiary of Dutch Pon Holdings, has already signed up as a sub-sponsor of the team on January 1, 2023. From 2024, the logos of both companies will appear on the chest of all riders and Team Visma | Lease a Bike will become a reality.
“Lease a Bike's mission is to inspire everyone to get on their bike - to exercise, to ride to work and in everyday life,” says Ward Matser, Managing Director of Lease a Bike.
“And what better way to spread this message than through a successful cycling team? We want to encourage people to live healthier and more sustainable lives and see Team Visma | Lease a Bike as a way to spread the cycling culture around the world. We also believe that it is very important to constantly innovate, develop talent and get a little better every day. A vision that we share with the cycling team."
Managing Director Richard Plugge is very pleased with the two main sponsors. “Following the announced withdrawal of Jumbo as main sponsor, we can continue our successful journey with two existing partners: Visma and Lease a Bike. We have had a very good relationship with both partners for some time now. Last year, we proved once again that we can grow and achieve success together. This is also our common goal in the long term.”
On December 21, Team Visma | Lease a Bike was presented to the media, partners and the public at Move Amsterdam with its riders, its main goals, its new corporate identity and the new team jersey. Team Visma | Lease a Bike has strengthened its team for 2024 with talented riders such as Cian Uijtdebroeks, Ben Tulett and Matteo Jorgenson. In addition, Per Strand Hagens, Johannes Staune-Mittet and Loe van Belle have moved from the Development Team to the WorldTour team. At the team presentation in Amsterdam, they gave exclusive insights for the coming season, looking positively to the future.
Team Visma | Lease a Bike's mission is not only to be the first to cross the finish line, but also to inspire a passion for cycling in others and encourage them to pursue their own dreams. In doing so, the team relies on the values of courage, dedication, forward thinking, commitment and team spirit. “Our goal as Team Visma | Lease a Bike is not only to overcome sporting challenges, but also to bring about positive change in society - to get people out on the roads and race tracks of the world and show the benefits of cycling. Every ride is an opportunity for us to set an exceptional example of teamwork and vision. With our great riders, the coming season is guaranteed to be exciting,” emphasized Christian Wölbern, Managing Director of Lease a Bike.
In addition to the Pon brands Cervelo and Skoda, Lease a Bike will also be on the list of sponsors of the Jumbo-Visma team from January 1, 2023. This means that Lease a Bike will be seen on the jerseys of Wout van Aert, Jonas Vingegaard and Marianne Vos, among others, throughout the 2023 cycling season. Of course, the connection between Lease a Bike and Team Jumbo-Visma is quickly made: the bike! But we don't just see the bike as a means to get from A to B, it is rather a way to do good for your health, your wallet and the environment.
There are few bigger stages in cycling than the Tour de France, and we at Lease a Bike are proud to support Team Visma | Lease a Bike at this event. The team's participation in this year's Tour de France is particularly exciting, not least because of the impressive performances and the rousing atmosphere that our colleagues Tobias Macke and Dennis Langlets were able to experience live on site.
August has so far been a very successful month for Team Visma | Lease a Bike: Riders of both the Men's and the Women's Team were able to shine at the Tour de Femmes, the Tour de Pologne and the Vuelta a Espana.
